What Should You Know about Break Fluid?

Brake fluid, the hydraulic fluid that fills the brake lines in your car, is responsible for making your brakes stop the car when you press your foot on the brake pedal. Your car's owner's manual will provide information about how often brake fluid should be changed for safe, efficient driving.

Brake fluid can also degrade during normal driving conditions, and manufacturers typically specify the type and grade of fluid each vehicle requires. If the fluid has deteriorated, or there are other signs of braking system trouble, it should be changed. Cars may require a change of brake fluid once a year, or once every two years.

Our service department at Cook Mazda can check the quality of your brake fluid and how well your braking system is working. We are located in Aberdeen, MD and offer appointments for brake checks and service at convenient times.
