what to bring when buying a car

Interested in purchasing a new Mazda vehicle from Cook Mazda? We’ve put together a helpful guide of what to bring when buying a car to make it as simple as possible to bring your new vehicle home today.

Driver’s License

A driver’s license is a must when purchasing a new car. We will need it in order for you to test drive your vehicle. We will also need proof that you can legally drive before can you take your new car home too.

Proof of Insurance

You also have to show proof of valid auto insurance before you can purchase a new car. We’ll review your auto insurance for your existing vehicle, so make sure that it isn’t expired.

Information to Obtain a Loan

If you are interested in financing your new vehicle, you’ll need additional information. We’ll need to see your proof of income, so bring your recent paystubs. We’ll also look at your existing expenses, so it’s a good idea to review them before your visit.

Trade-in Information

If you plan to trade-in your existing vehicle, you’ll want to ensure you have the proper paperwork for your existing car. Bring with you your title and your vehicle’s registration. If you have your service records, it’s a good idea to bring them as well, as it can increase your vehicle’s value.

Existing Lien Paperwork

If your trade-in isn’t yet paid in full, make sure you also bring your existing lien paperwork. We’ll want to determine if you have negative equity in your vehicle, as it may need to be paid before trading it in.
