2023 Mazda3

If you’re searching for a spry vehicle, you may be looking at both the 2023 Mazda3 and the Kia Soul. So, how can you figure out which is best for your needs? This guide will help as it sees how they compare in three essential areas: power, tech features, and safety systems.

Power

The Mazda3 comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 191 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. There are also two optional engines, including a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that offers 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. The Kia Soul only has one engine, a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder that only puts out 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque.

Tech

You will appreciate all of the many tech features found in the Mazda3. In addition to a user-friendly infotainment system with an 8.8-inch display, you will get the following:

  • HD Radio
  • Android Auto™
  • Apple CarPlay®
  • Push-button start
  • Remote keyless entry
  • Eight-speaker stereo
  • Voice command
  • Two USB ports
  • Bluetooth®

The Kia Soul only has one USB port, and the standard stereo has six speakers. Plus, HD radio and voice commands aren’t available.

Safety

Your Mazda3 will help keep you safe as you drive around Aberdeen, as every model has the following:

  • Lane departure warning
  • Lane-keep assist
  • Forward automatic emergency braking
  • Pedestrian and cyclist detection
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Automatic high-beam headlights
  • Driver attention monitoring
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers
  • Rearview camera
  • Adaptive headlights

While the Kia Soul has some of the same features, lane departure warning, cyclist detection, and adaptive cruise control all require an upgrade.
